COOKIN' BEAT roots are Inspired by traditional percussion and samulnori music, in which special drums and gongs are beaten rapidly to create a mind-whirling and heart-thumping musical effect. Western Inspirations Include the Marx Brothers and B movie. Visual effects are taken from mask dance and Oriental marital arts.
And as food and Its careful preparation are an Important element of Korean culture, the kitchen seems a natural setting for what Is undoubtedly an unforgettable rocking kitchen experience!
Four crazy chiefs In a Korean kitchen have to prepare the meal for a wedding banquet to a strict time limit. Struggling to overcome rivalries and other obstacles, they take advantage of every utensil in the kitchen-from knives and chopping boards to pots, pans and water bottles. They drum, Juggle, flight, skip, beat and stir their way through the day's cooking schedule producing an Intensely energetic range of percussive rhythms. There is audience participation. The combination of dance, slapstick comedy and well-timed physical stuntwork creates a high-energy percussion show. This show is COOKIN' BEAT.
