OSAKA--Universal Studios Japan (USJ) turned yellow on April 19 as about 1,500 costumed guests celebrated the new Minion Park, dedicated to the banana-loving characters from the U.S. animated film series “Despicable Me.”

Attractions at the park include the “Minion Hacha-Mecha Ride” featuring a vehicle designed by Gru, the supervillain boss of the Minions, which sways as a story plays out on a giant screen.

Minions will also participate in street shows in the park, which officially opens on April 21, and a multitude of Minions merchandise will be sold in the on-site shops.
