Police are searching for two men who robbed a man of several tens of millions of yen on a street in Tokyo’s Ginza district lined with fashion brands on the afternoon of April 21.

The robbery took place in the Ginza 5-chome area near the Ginza subway station in Tokyo’s Chuo Ward around 1:30 p.m., according to the Tsukiji Police Station.

A man in a bluish jumper approached the victim from behind, pushed him to the ground and grabbed his bag containing the cash. The suspect then ran to a motorbike driven by an accomplice, and the two were last seen heading toward the Shinbashi district, according to police and other sources.

“I heard someone shouting loudly and saw a young man running on the street,” a woman near the scene said. “He was fleeing very fast.”

The robbery came a day after an afternoon heist in Fukuoka in which the perpetrators stole a man’s suitcase containing 384 million yen in cash.
