The globally popular “Captain Tsubasa” soccer manga series will kick off as a live stage show this summer.

“Super Experience Stage: Captain Tsubasa” will run from Aug. 18 to Sept. 3 for a total of 23 performances at the Zepp Blue Theater Roppongi in Tokyo.

The stage adaptation will incorporate not only cast members’ physical abilities but also dance moves, martial arts skills and illusion techniques to bring the manga’s “super shots” on stage.

Latest digital technologies will also be adapted for the first time for a play to entertain audience members with an immersive stage experience.

Choreographer and dance performer Kenichi Ebina, aka Ebiken, who shot to worldwide fame after winning the eighth season of U.S. reality TV series “America’s Got Talent,” will serve as general director.

Tsuyoshi Kaseda, a member of a performing arts company called enra, is tasked with writing the script and serving as adviser to the director.

Cast members will be revealed at a later date.
