Blu-ray box sets aimed at longtime fans and viewers of “Yu Yu Hakusho” will be released this year to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the anime TV series.

An all-new episode will be bundled with the fourth set for the “Demon Plane” arc scheduled for release on Oct. 26.

The first set, to be released on July 27, will contain episodes for the “Supernatural Detective” story arc and include “Yu Yu Hakusho: The Movie--Poltergeist Report.” The feature film adaptation, previously available only on LaserDisc and VHS, will be brought to Blu-ray for the first time.

The second set for the “Dark Tournament” arc will be released on Aug. 28, followed by the third set for the “Sensui” arc on Sept. 26.

The anime series is based on an action manga of the same name by Yoshihiro Togashi, which ran in Shueisha Inc.’s Weekly Shonen Jump comic anthology.

The story centers around Yusuke Urameshi, who returns from the dead to work as a “supernatural detective.” With the help of his trusty sidekicks Kuwabara, Kurama and Hiei, Yusuke fights heinous demons and spirits to protect the peace of the human and supernatural worlds.

The manga was adapted into a TV series by anime studio Pierrot Co., running from October 1992 to January 1995 for a total of 112 episodes.
