The long-awaited animated feature film adaptation of “Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?” (aka “DanMachi”) will hit cinemas nationwide in 2019.

A new visual and a promotional video have been unveiled on the official website, while the names of additional cast members and production staff have also been revealed.

The film, titled “Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?: Arrow of the Orion,” is an adventure fantasy based on a novel by Fujino Omori.

The story is set in the city of Orario, which boasts a massive underground dungeon. It begins when a boy named Bell Cranel, who aspires to be an adventurer but has been rejected by many groups, known as “Familia,” to join their exploits. That changes when he meets the goddess Hestia and becomes the first member of her Familia.

An animated TV series adaptation started airing in April 2015, before a spin-off anime series, “Sword Oratoria,” premiered in April 2017.

For the feature film project, original author Omori wrote the screenplay to tell a new story. In addition to Bell and Hestia, the latest visual shows a new character.

Katsushi Sakurabi, whose previous works include “Lostorage Incited WIXOSS” and “Alice & Zoroku,” joins as director. Shigeki Kimoto, who served as character designer for the TV series, reprises his role.
