“Double Decker! Doug & Kirill,” an anime that revolves around a detective duo, will start airing and streaming this fall.

The anime, announced in March as a new title from the “buddy series” project, is planned and produced by Sunrise Inc. and features characters designed by manga artist Masakazu Katsura.

The project brings together production staff members from the popular “Tiger & Bunny” anime franchise.

In the story, Doug Billingham, a seasoned investigator who is aloof and elusive, and Kirill Vrubel, a rookie detective who is all too eager, are members of the Seven-O Special Crime Investigation Unit specializing in cracking down on “Anthem,” a lethal drug that has cast a dark shadow over the city state of Lisvalletta.

Doug will be voiced by Satoshi Mikami, while Kirill is played by Kohei Amasaki. Voice actresses Saori Hayami, Chika Anzai, Yo Taichi and Atsumi Tanezaki are joining the team to play other main characters.

The first and second episodes of “Double Decker!” will be shown at a special event held in Tokyo’s Shinjuku district on Sept. 2, which will be offered with a talk.
