“Dragon Ball Super: Broly,” the 20th installment of the feature film series based on the “Dragon Ball” manga and anime series, will hit cinemas on Dec. 14.

A poster visual for the latest film shows “legendary” Super Saiyan Broly looming behind Goku and Vegeta who have evolved into the form of Super Saiyan Blue.

The story will pick up where the “Dragon Ball Super” TV series left off when it finished in March, shedding light on the alien Saiyan warriors and villainous Freeza after the end of the Tournament of Power.

One day, a previously unknown Saiyan called Broly shows up in front of Goku and Vegeta. They are baffled by the presence of another member of their race because almost all Saiyans were supposedly wiped out when their home, Planet Vegeta, was destroyed.

Akira Toriyama said he was approached by the production team to make a film about Broly. Although the original manga creator had completely forgotten about the character, he learned that Broly, the strongest of all Saiyans, had remained popular at home and abroad.

The manga artist added that the new film will show the inevitable encounter of Goku, Vegeta and Broly, as well as the history involving Freeza’s army and the Saiyans.
