The Take Reed, a series of flower-shaped bamboo ornaments, are actually aroma diffusers.

Takemata Nakagawa Takezaiten has been offering the products since summer last year.

Founded in 1688, the shop handles bamboo products mainly used as building materials, including bamboo hedges.

Takemata developed the Take Reed in collaboration with students at Kyoto Seika University, who took notice of bamboo for its liquid absorbing characteristics.

The Take Reed is available in three types: gerbera, rose and camellia.

Address: 275 Muromachi-Kashiracho, Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto (temporarily operating in a makeshift shop).
