FUKUOKA--All-girl idol group HKT48’s new exclusive theater will open inside a building to be constructed next to Yahuoku! Dome in the city’s Chuo Ward.

The primary contractor, the SoftBank Hawks baseball club, made the announcement in November.

The previous HKT48 Theater was housed in the Hawks Town Mall next to the baseball field. However, the mall was closed down in spring 2016. The idol group, a sister group of Tokyo-based AKB48, has moved its base to Nishitetsu Hall in the ward's Tenjin district.

The new building is scheduled to open in 2020.

The location can almost be considered HKT48's starting point, as the group performed its first concert there. The idol group will “pair up” with the Hawks, who play their home games in the stadium neighboring the theater.
