The classic animated TV series “Cowboy Bebop” will be adapted into a live-action drama series in Hollywood to be streamed worldwide on Netflix.

Shinichiro Watanabe, who directed the original anime series, will serve as a consultant.

Produced by leading anime studio Sunrise Inc., the 10-episode series is set in the near-future Solar System. The story centers around Spike, a bounty-hunting “cowboy” who pursues criminals across space, and his friends who are constantly faced with critical situations and save the day.

The anime premiered in Japan in 1998, with an animated feature film adaptation coming out in 2001.

It also gained worldwide popularity especially in the United States and European countries.

The U.S. live-action series will be co-produced by Netflix and Tomorrow Studios, which is responsible for hit drama series such as “Prison Break” and “Good Behavior.”

Cast members and other details will be revealed at a later date.
