URAYASU, Chiba Prefecture--The operator of Tokyo Disney Resort announced May 21 that Fantasy Springs will be the name of a new section of Tokyo DisneySea scheduled to open in fiscal 2022.

The theme of the area is “a magical spring that leads to a world of Disney fantasy,” Oriental Land Co. said.

Fantasy Springs will consist of facilities inspired by three Disney films--“Frozen,” “Tangled,” and “Peter Pan.”

The company said "mysterious waterfalls and ponds" at the entrance will usher visitors into the world of Disney.

“We will create a new fantasy world to give visitors an experience they've never had before,” said Oriental Land Chairman and CEO Toshio Kagami.

Oriental Land will invest 250 billion yen ($2.26 billion) into Fantasy Springs, its biggest investment since opening DisneySea in 2001. The attraction will expand that area of the theme park by about 20 percent.

Four attractions, three restaurants and a 475-room hotel with luxury rooms will be built.

With visitor numbers soaring, the company anticipates that Fantasy Springs will ease congestion and trigger more repeat visitors.
