The second season of the “Hi Score Girl” animated TV series based on Rensuke Oshikiri’s manga set in an outdated arcade in the 1990s will premiere in October.

The news was announced during a special event held to celebrate the March 20 release of “Hi Score Girl: Extra Stage,” a sequel to the first season, on DVD and Blu-ray, as well as its streaming on Netflix.

Director Yoshiki Yamakawa, main screenwriter Tatsuhiko Urahata, composer Yoko Shimomura and other main staff members will reprise their roles for the second season titled “Hi Score Girl II.”

Oshikiri’s manga of the same name ran in the Big Gangan monthly comic anthology and featured many classic video game titles from real life.

The story revolves around main characters Haruo Yaguchi, Akira Ono and Koharu Hidaka.
