Manga artist Rumiko Takahashi’s new series “MAO” has now started its run in the 23rd issue of Weekly Shonen Sunday comic anthology.

The new series is a horror adventure story in line with one of her major works, “Inuyasha.”

The story centers around Nanoka who has had a near-death experience. One day, on her way home from school, Nanoka finds herself in a place where two worlds intersect and meets a mysterious boy named Mao before she is thrown into a turbulent fate.

Takahashi is a veteran artist known for “Inuyasha,” “Ranma 1/2” and “Rin-ne.” In January, she won the grand prix at the prestigious Festival International de la Bande Dessinee d’Angouleme, one of the world's largest comics festivals held in France.
