The second season of the “Ultraman” 3-D CG anime series is in the pipeline.

The news was announced during the Studio Focus session held as part of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France on June 11 to unveil the upcoming anime titles from Netflix.

Other works to be offered from the streaming service include “Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045,” “Cannon Busters,” “Yasuke” and “Eden.”

“Ultraman” is based on the manga of the same name, which was inspired by the classic live-action superhero TV series featuring the character, who protects humans from aliens and monsters.

The story centers around a high school boy whose father was the first Ultraman.

The second season will be co-directed by Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki, who attended the Annecy event. The duo are also responsible for the new “Ghost in the Shell” series and unveiled a new visual from the show during the event.

“Yasuke” will be directed by LeSean Thomas, who serves as executive producer, director and creator for “Cannon Busters.” It will be produced by anime studio MAPPA Co., which is headed by Manabu Otsuka.

“Eden” will be handled by director Yasuhiro Irie, whose past works include “Fullmetal Alchemist.”
