Twelve people died and 12 were reported missing after massive Typhoon No. 19 made landfall on Oct. 12 in the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture and destroyed and flooded homes on the storm's destructive path north.

According to emergency officials, as of 1 p.m. on Oct. 13, 12 people were killed in Tochigi, Gunma and other prefectures.

In addition, 12 others are reported to be missing, including seven in Fukushima Prefecture where several river floods were reported.

The number of injured totaled at least 113 in Kanagawa and other prefectures.

Three hundred and forty houses were flooded above floor level and 491 houses flooded below floor level in Miyagi and other prefectures.
