SUITA, Osaka Prefecture--The “Tower of the Sun” here has been transformed into a giant kaleidoscope, with myriads of colorful patterns shown on its back for the year-end season.

The ever-changing illumination art is created by about 1 million digital images projected on the tower's backside in an irregular manner.

Areas around the landmark at the Expo '70 Commemorative Park are also lit up for the Wonder Experience Illuminight Expo 2019 event, which started Dec. 6.

The iconic tower was designed by the late artist Taro Okamoto as a symbol of the 1970 Osaka Expo.

The event will be held from sunset to 9 p.m. on Fridays through Sundays until Dec. 29, as well as Dec. 24-26.
