The maximum disparity in the weight of votes cast in this election was 4.77, meaning that one vote in the least populated constituency was worth 4.77 votes in the most heavily populated electorate. Lawsuits have been filed to invalidate the election results in all 47 prefectural constituencies on grounds that the disparity violates the constitutional guarantee of equality under the law.
