YAMANAKAKO, Yamanashi Prefecture--A rare and breathtaking view of the full moon setting over the summit of Mount Fuji could be glimpsed by early risers before dawn in Yamanakako village in Yamanashi Prefecture on July 23.
The majestic scene is known as “Pearl Fuji,” while a similar view seen when the sun overlaps the peak of Japan's highest mountain is called “Diamond Fuji.”
