TOKYO: 6 Chinese held for forging documents

Six Chinese were arrested on suspicion of forging alien registration cards and passports for their compatriots, police said Wednesday.

Four men and two women living in Tokyo, Aichi Prefecture and elsewhere allegedly forged and sold a total of 10,000 documents to about 4,000 Chinese across Japan over 21 months.

They racked up about 80 million yen from the forgery business, a record amount for this type of crime, according to police.(IHT/Asahi: March 27,2008)
