Momoko Ishii, a writer and translator of children's books, died Wednesday. She was 101. Ishii translated into Japanese some of most beloved works of children's literature, including "Winnie the Pooh" and "Peter Rabbit." She also wrote many famous original children's books in Japanese, such as "Non-chan kumo ni noru" (Non-chan rides the clouds). Her home was turned into a children's library. Ishii was one of eight individuals named as winners of the 2007 Asahi Prize to recognize their outstanding work.(IHT/Asahi: April 4,2008) ENGLISH
