Researchers buff up on English

The University of Tokyo is making efforts to help chemical researchers in its Graduate School of Science overcome a weakness--relatively low profiles overseas despite high-quality achievements.

The school's Chemistry Department this spring began offering seminars in English by foreign instructors to its researchers. About 15 researchers will also be sent abroad each year to lecture in Europe, the United States or in other Asian nations.(IHT/Asahi: April 16,2008)
