'Fat mountain' gives it her all for ... mom

Shizuka Yamamoto, whose sumo ring name is Odebuyama (Fat mountain), easily lifts her opponent Sunday during a woman-only sumo event in Fukushima, Hokkaido, going on to take first prize. Yamamoto, a 32-year-old company employee from Sapporo, says she plans to give the entire 100,000 yen purse to her mother. Fifty-seven women, including 12 non-Japanese, competed in the Mother's Day event. Some wrestlers dressed as Kabuki or manga characters.(IHT/Asahi: May 12,2008)
