Briefly: Man dies from burns at police station

NAGOYA--Police investigators plan to question officers at the Atsuta Police Station here on suspicion of professional negligence resulting in death, after an officer loaned a lighter to a man who was being questioned after he doused himself with kerosene.

The 45-year-old man died of burns on Sunday.

Police said hot ash may have fallen from a cigarette onto the victim's fuel-soaked clothes and ignited the fatal fire.(IHT/Asahi: May 13,2008)
