Man killed in feud over stray cats

KAWASAKI--An unemployed man killed his landlord and slashed the victim's daughter-in-law in a spat over stray cats, police said Friday.

Masao Takada, 69, was arrested Thursday at an apartment building here.

"I don't remember what happened because I was drunk," police quoted him as saying.

According to police, the landlord, Fumiya Katano, 76, warned Takada not to feed cats on Wednesday. Around 3:40 p.m. Thursday, Takada stabbed Katano in the neck and back several times on the building's second floor, police said.(IHT/Asahi: June 7,2008)
