A Tokyo high school closed for about a week Thursday after the new swine influenza spread among its students.

Nine third-year students at the private Seisoku High School in Minato Ward were confirmed infected with the virus as of Thursday, school officials said.

Eight live in Tokyo and one resides in Ichikawa, Chiba Prefecture. Classes will resume June 18.

Meanwhile, Seikei University in Musashino, western Tokyo, closed its campus, except for its law school, Wednesday after a student was confirmed infected. Classes will resume Tuesday. (IHT/Asahi: June 12,2009)
