Japan Airlines Corp. said Thursday the company and its affiliates will discontinue 16 money-losing services, including eight on international routes, by the end of May.

The company will withdraw from the Chinese cities of Hangzhou, Qingdao and Xiamen (Amoy) in December and from Mexico in January.

Many domestic services to be terminated are to Kobe and Chubu airports. JAL will withdraw from Kobe altogether at the end of May.

In addition to the 16 routes, the airline is also considering withdrawing from Shizuoka Airport and Matsumoto Airport in Nagano Prefecture in fiscal 2010 or later.(IHT/Asahi: November 6,2009)
