ヘラルド朝日「英語論文コンテスト」
English-language Essay Writing Contest

朝日新聞社が発行する英字新聞「ヘラルド朝日」は、大学生、大学院生、短大生を対象に第３回英語論文コンテストを開催します。英語に親しみ、表現力を磨いてもらうのが趣旨です。国籍は問いません。多くの方の応募を期待しています。

【応募資格】　大学生、大学院生、短大生

【応募書類】　Ａ４の紙に、氏名、生年月日、大学、学年、住所、電話番号を明記し、三つの課題の中から一つを選び、英単語８００ワード前後でタイプ打ちにし、郵送かメールで送る。応募作品は、オリジナルで未発表のものに限る

【課題】

(１）日本をこう変えたい（「日本のここが変だ」、と感じるところをテーマに、体験や提案を書く。話題は身の回りの出来事から、政治、経済、社会全般なんでも可）

（２）環境問題を考える（提案でも、自分が実際に取り組んでいる事例や、地域活動などの紹介も可）

（３）新聞を含めた英字メディアの活用法

　The International Herald Tribune/ The Asahi Shimbun is sponsoring an English-language essay writing contest, in which all university students, graduate school students and junior college students are invited to take part. Entrants must base their essays on one of the following three topics;

　1) How Japanese society should change

　2) My thoughts on environmental issues

　3) How I use the English-language media

　 Essays must be typed on A4-sized paper and should not exceed 800 words. Please do not forget to include your name, address, the name of your school and grade, and also your telephone number.　Only original essays written for this contest will be accepted.

　 Please mail your entry by May 31 to: The Asahi Shimbun International Division, 5-3-2 Tsukiji, Chuo-ku, Tokyo 〒104-8011　（Telephone: 03-5540-7641）

　 The winner will receive a cash prize of 100,000 yen. Second prize is worth 50,000 yen.

　Winners will be announced in the International Herald Tribune/ The Asahi Shimbun in June. The awards ceremony will be held in Tokyo in July.
