EDITORIAL: Why change the Self-Defense Forces to a national defense force?

In its campaign platform for the Dec. 16 Lower House election, the Liberal Democratic Party spelled out its plan to upgrade the status of the Self-Defense Forces to that of a "national defense force" by amending the Constitution.
