An additional 143 people were found infected with the new coronavirus in Tokyo, pushing the total in the capital past 1,000, sources said April 5.
The number follows the 118 confirmed the previous day, the first three-digit daily infection total reported in Tokyo.
Across Japan, there have been 4,219 reported cases of infections and 95 deaths by April 4.
