Tokyo officials confirmed 2,403 new COVID-19 cases on May 2, down 738 from the same day a week ago, marking the 21st straight day of a week-on-week decline.
The metropolitan government also reported three deaths among patients in their 90s in the capital.
The daily average of new infections over the week through May 2 in Tokyo was 4,132.9, or 76.3 percent of the average for the preceding week.
