The Tokyo metropolitan government confirmed 1,517 new novel coronavirus cases on June 27, an increase of 441 from the same day a week ago.

That marked the 10th consecutive day of a week-on-week rise in COVID-19 cases in the capital.

The seven-day average of new cases in Tokyo over the week through June 27 was 2,081.0, accounting for 128.5 percent of the figure for the preceding week.
