Asahi World Forum 2017|朝日新聞

10/1(日)イイノホール 10/2-3(月火)帝国ホテル

We have been recently observing serious “divides” in our society, which are particularly visible in the U.S. and Europe. The Asahi World Forum 2017, with “Overcoming Divides for Our Future” as its main theme, will discuss if and how the human society can address the phenomena.

Also prominent in the agenda of the Forum will be the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs). The goals are effectively a comprehensive list of pressing issues and challenges the world faces. There will be wide-ranging sessions to deal with some of the subject matters of the goals, including gender, responsible consumption and production, affordable and clean energy, and sustainable cities and communities.

This year is the tenth anniversary of The Asahi World Forum, which started in 2008 as the “Asahi World Environmental Forum” and assumed the current name and style last year. The Asahi Shimbun will continue to attempt to propose solutions to social issues through this Forum and other occasions.

We look forward to welcoming you at this ambitious event in Tokyo this October.
