The “Otemachi Forest” was created in a 3,600㎡ area among the high-rise buildings in the center of Tokyo. The project to create a natural forest in the business district drew on one hundred years of experience in tree planting of the Meiji Jingu Shrine. The forest, which functions as a healing place where people can get in touch with nature, has attracted attention as a model for urban greenery.
A lush forest environment was reproduced by selecting plants that match the local vegetation and planting a wide variety of trees in random densities.
