Mountain with rich nature designated as a semi-national park is located in suburbs of Tokyo, about an hour from the heart of the city by electric train. As the plants grow all over the warm and cold zones of the mountain, it is extremely rich in wild plant life. Since getting a Michelin Guide 3-starred in 2007, it has become a popular destination for overseas travelers.

Something Green

“Giant tengu” statue of Yakuoin Temple which is said to have been opened more than 1,200 years ago. According to ancient folklore of Mt. Takao, the mythical tengu is said to have power to bring good luck and ward off evil. The statue has been an object of Japanese folk belief since olden days.
