Kozushima

Mythical island covered in greenery

Old Green
Green of tradition and history

Kozushima is one of the islands in Tokyo Prefecture belonging to the chain of islands called the Izu Islands, which are scattered across the sea in a southeast direction from Tokyo. This island has become popular with travelers. The tiny “island of greenery” is surrounded by waters that are said to have the highest transparency in the country. Among the many ancient myths, Kozushima is famous for the myth that spring water was brought to the island.

Trekking among the flowers that bloom on Mt. Tenjosan (known as “mountain of 100 flowers”) is fun. The flowers in the picture are Oshima azaleas in the spring.
